Mathematical Signal and Image Processing (MSIP)

Newsletter 01/2014

Dear colleagues,

Although some time already passed, we would like to still wish you all the best for 2014. In the first newsletter of this year, we will inform you about nominations and the upcoming elections of the GAMM board, the assembly of our activity group during the annual GAMM Meeting, and about details of our session at this GAMM Meeting.

Nomination and Elections of the GAMM Board

Following the suggestion of some members of our activity group,

  • Gitta Kutyniok (Berlin)
was nominated for the next election of the executive board of GAMM. These elections take place from February 5 to March 5, 2014. There will also be the possibility of a written vote during the general assembly at the Annual GAMM Meeting. If you are a GAMM member, you should have received the information (password, etc.) concerning the electronic votes with the last GAMM Mitteilungen. Since most of the decisions (GAMM Juniors, plenary talks, etc.) are made by the executive board or by committees consisting of some of those members, it would be highly beneficial for our group to have a representative on this board.

MSIP-Assembly at Annual GAMM Meeting

During the Annual GAMM Meeting 2014, which will take place from March 10-14, 2014 in Erlangen, there will be an assembly of our activity group taking place on Wednesday right after the last talk of our session, i.e., at 6:30PM, in the same room. The schedule for this assembly will contain the following main items:

  1. Report by the chair
  2. New elections of the board (this is in accordance with our statutes)

If you would like to add further points, please let us know.

Our Session at Annual GAMM Meeting

Our session on "Mathematical Signal- and Image Processing" will this time be organized by Gerlind Plonka-Hoch (Göttingen) and Joachim Weickert (Saarbrücken). It will consist of 32 talks of which 3 talks will be keynote talks given by

  • Martin Burger (Münster)
  • Massimo Fornasier (München)
  • Holger Rauhut (Aachen)

Finally, if you have any suggestions or comments, we would be very happy if you could let us know.

With best regards,

Gitta Kutyniok, Gerlind Plonka, and Gabriele Steidl
