Mathematical Signal and Image Processing (MSIP)
We hope those of you who attended the workshop on "Mathematical Signal Processing and Phase Retrieval" in the Waldschloesschen, which was also our annual Activity Group meeting, had a safe trip back home. We would like to particularly thank all who participated actively in this workshop and gave very interesting talks as well as presented carefully designed posters.
In addition to a short report on the workshop and the elections during the General Assembly, in this newsletter we would also like to remind you that we need to submit soon the annual report as well as suggest speakers for the GAMM Annual Meeting 2016.
Annual MSIP Workshop in Göttingen
The main highlights at the workshop entitled "Mathematical Signal Processing and Phase Retrieval" were the three plenary talks by Akram Aldroubi, Martin Ehler, and Jalal Fadilli. We also had the pleasure to listen to about 25 very interesting contributed talks as well as enjoy carefully designed posters during the poster session. This workshop had a particular focus on phase retrieval, but also a nice bouquet of other research directions in the area of signal- and image processing was presented. About 50 participants attended our workshop with a significant number of also young researchers. A great thanks to, in particular, Gerlind Plonka for the perfect organization!
GAMM-MSIP Board Elections
During the general assembly of our activity group at the workshop in Göttingen, elections for the vice chair(s) took place. The election was organized by Martin Welk.
The two previous vice chairs Gerlind Plonka-Hoch and Gabriele Steidl did not stand for elections. Martin Burger was nominated and elected as next vice chair (with term starting on January 1, 2015) with all votes.
Great thanks go to the two founding vice chairs Gerlind Plonka-Hoch and Gabriele Steidl for their significant contributions and dedication to, in particular, build up the activity group and organize workshops!
Congratulations to Martin Burger for his election and best wishes for a successful term!
